I led communications and campaign strategy for Javiera Caballero’s successful re-election campaign to Durham City Council.

Javiera is the first Latina elected to public office in Durham, and one of the first Latino/a/e people elected in North Carolina. A leader on affordable housing policy, immigrant inclusion, and public transit strategies, she faced a competitive city council re-election campaign in 2023.

I managed her campaign with a focus on bilingual (English-Spanish) digital communications, mail, and voter outreach.

Our team invested in talking directly with Latino/e voters in Durham who otherwise don’t hear from candidates or campaigns. We combined this with rigorous policy comms on the issues Durham voters care about most—affordable housing and community safety—to chart a path to victory. Javiera won re-election with over 20,000 votes.
